I have just made contact with one of my interviewees. He said he would be happy to do an interview with me, but he is very busy and asked to have two, shorter, separate interviews, rather than one long one. Have any of your interviewees requested this? I feel that it could very easily go better, because I would have more time to formulate my second line of questions, that respond to the answers, but I worry about losing track and the second interview being a repeat of the first. What do you think?
This is not a problem, generally. I just hope that by "short" he doesn't mean 15 minutes. I think you should aim for about 40 (you will see how the first 10-15 minutes are a warm-up, with general talk, pre-made, recited answers). You need a bit more time to delve into deeper and more developed answers.
ReplyDeleteI definitely think this is a positive thing because you can base your second set of questions on how the first interview went. In order to not "lose track", I would try to develop your second set of questions right after the first interview and if possible schedule the next interview soon after.
ReplyDeleteHope this helps! :)
